As part of the LaFA LATES series La Foundation for the Arts (LAFA) in vited dancers Nela Elle and Koffi-Kégou Afiadegnigban to create a performance inspired by our exhibition TOUCH.
On Friday 17th May 2024, they presented: Converging Timelines, an experimental dance duet creation.
Through their performance, they delve into the profound interplay between two bodies within the realm of time and space, exploring how each influences the existential manifestation of the other. This captivating piece not only delves into the emotional landscapes of each artist but also engages the audience in introspection, prompting them to ponder:
How am I feeling?
What am I feeling?
Why am I feeling this way?
The performance also invites audiences to contemplate the existence of parallel worlds and the notion that the physical realm mirrors the spiritual one. The silver cord, symbolizing the connection between these realms for all humans, serves as a central motif throughout the piece. Through dynamic movement sequences, the dancers convey the idea that events occurring in the physical world are echoes of past occurrences in the spiritual realm, suggesting a timeless interconnectedness.
